Η προέλευση της ιριδίζουσας πέστροφας είναι από τη Β.Δ. Αμερική, από όπου το 1881 μεταφέρθηκε στην Ευρώπη από ευρωπαίους μετανάστες, οι οποίοι την ίδια περίπου περίοδο , μετέφεραν τον κυπρίνος στις Η.Π.Α.

Η ιριδίζουσα πέστροφα διαδόθηκε σε όλες σχεδόν τις χώρες και εγκλιματίσθηκε αμέσως. Οι πρώτες ποικιλίες που καλλιεργήθηκαν ήταν οι Kamloops και Shasta. Αυτές οι ποικιλίες καλλιεργούνται ακόμη και σήμερα.

The carp (cyprinus carpio) comes from Asia. It is believed, in particular, to have been brought to Europe from Asia Minor. Today it is a common fish in Hungary, Austria, Serbia, Romania, and generally throughout Europe. It can be found in practically all lakes in Greece.

Leuciscus cephalus or the common chub, is a fish of the Cyprinidae  family and is found throughout Europe. The chub is very resilient to pollution and can easily survive in water with low oxygen content. It can usually be found in rivers, rapids and lakes at an altitude of less than 500 metres (1640 feet).

The trout is considered the pride of the Greek mountain rivers. It's a beautiful fish with very succulent and easily digestible meat that belongs to the Salmoninae family. We will proceed to review the trout from the standpoint of its biology, its behaviour and its particular habits.
